Acorn Cars Private Hire Taxis are licensed operators in Knowsley, Merseyside and all drivers and vehicles must be licensed by Knowsley M.B.C. In order to become a private hire driver in Knowsley, applicants must have held a full driving licence for more than one year and be a fit and proper person. Because of insurance restrictions under 25`s should contact us  first. Applications can only be made in person at the nearest Licensing Office.

As the local knowledge test has temporarily been suspended to encourage new drivers  you will need to contact the nearest Licensing Office.

You will be given an application form and a police check form (this check is now performed by the National Criminal Records Bureau and is known as a Disclosure). 

The application form will ask for the name of the company that you intend to operate from as a self employed driver. We are Acorn Cars, 18 Park Brow Drive, Southdene, Knowsley, Merseyside, L32 6QP. Tel: 0151 546 4444. This form has to be countersigned and stamped by our company before returning it to the Licensing Office.

As part of your application you will be asked to attend a medical at Liverpool City Council Occupational Health Unit, North John Street, Liverpool before you are issued with your badge. 

You will also be asked to attend a one day seminar which is held by Knowsley M.B.C  Licensing Office
